Shout Out: Frank Martusciello, Norridge chiropractor

Dr. Frank Martusciello is a former resident of Norridge and the clinic director and founder of Total Life Chiropractic. The chiropractic wellness clinic has two locations, one in Norridge, another in Willow Springs. According to its website, Total Life Chiropractic is celebrating 35 years in 2019.

Q: What does it mean to you knowing Total Life Chiropractic has been serving the community for 35 years?

A: I’m blessed to have some really great people around me. When we come to work, we hit the ground running. Our goal is to take care of our patients, and I do that between two clinics. I stay pretty busy. I really didn’t give much thought to the anniversary. It is something to celebrate. Myself, Dr. Rick—who’s been with me for 19 years—and my entire staff have been really dedicated for all this time, helping our community get healthy.

Q: Do you feel people at times have misconceptions for what the clinic does?

A: Most chiropractors will say it’s about aches and pains. When, in reality, chiropractic is truly about improving one’s health through a highly functioning nervous system. As chiropractors, our job is to improve the alignment of the spine, so the nerves can communicate better from the brain to the body and from the body back to the brain. In fact, a lot of research now is showing that it’s not just improving nerve flow to organs, glands and circulation, but it also improves the function of the brain. It helps memory, cognitive thinking, problem-solving and short-term memory.

Q: In what ways is your clinic involved in the community?

A: I encourage our team to get out in the community, go to senior centers, do health talks, do free blood pressure screenings. As much as we can do in the community, we’re always willing to step out to do anything we can to participate.

Q: What advice would you give anyone considering the prospect of visiting a chiropractic wellness clinic?

A: The only advice I can give them is, get in here. Our patients who come here, our goal is to not just get rid of aches and pains, but get them healthier and see, with the help of their own family physician, if they can start coming off a lot of the medication, which a lot of them do. It’s easy for me to have the conviction to say, get in here, because I know that the outcome is more than just feeling better. It’s to help function better.

Q: What do you hope to achieve in the years to come?

A: Our goal is to impact our community. I would love to see the people surrounding this clinic taking less medication, having greater health, more function and more energy.
