New Lenox Restaurant Week returns for a second helping

Now in its second year, New Lenox Restaurant Week is back and ready to serve up good eats at discounted rates.

The village of New Lenox and New Lenox Chamber of Commerce are partnering with local businesses to make the event possible.

“It’s a good way to save,” said Nancy Dye, economic development coordinator for the village of New Lenox. “For a week, you can get buy one, get one free, 20 percent off, and other specials.”

New Lenox Restaurant Week began Tuesday and runs to Sept. 11. The cities of Joliet and Chicago host similar events.

Dye said the buzz around town played a part in the decision to bring back New Lenox Restaurant Week for another helping.

Among this year’s participating businesses are JBD White Horse Inn, Oy’s Thai Cuisine and Pico de Gallo.

“It was pretty good for all the guests we had last year,” said Edgar Souza, general manger for Bulldog Ale House—New Lenox.

Souza said Bulldog Ale House is best known for its hamburgers, pizza and chicken tenders.

Souza hopes people will take advantage of New Lenox Restaurant Week and all of what it aims to offer.

Gatto’s Restaurant and Bar is another participating in this year’s New Lenox Restaurant Week.

“I am looking forward to it,” said Frank Gatto, co-owner of Gatto’s Restaurant and Bar. “People are going to look to see if there are new restaurants involved and check out those that participated last year.”

Gatto’s Restaurant and Bar also participated last year.

“I’ve had people come in, saying, ‘I’ve never been here,’” Gatto said. “They came in, and they became regular customers.”

Gatto’s Restaurant and Bar prides itself on its effort to make the establishment a go-to place.

“For us parents, it’s tough to get out,” Gatto said. “New Lenox Restaurant Week gives people an opportunity to get together with family and friends. Our special is good for people with children.”
