Third annual Restaurant Week set in Geneva

The third helping of Geneva Restaurant Week will feature menu favorites as well as some new items to try to lure people to eat out around the community.

The annual event runs Jan. 23-29.

The rationale for launching the annual event "was to showcase our restaurants and town," said Laura Rush, communications manager for the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. "Traditionally, it can be slow at this time of year."

During the week, patrons will have the option to eat lunch or dinner at participating restaurants for either $19 or $39. Some establishments will have special drink offerings, while others will offer $5 gift cards.

"We have restaurants that make things special for restaurant week," Rush said, adding that between 20 and 25 usually participate.

No tickets are necessary. Diners can either walk in or make a reservation.

Rush said the week draws new people to the community.

"The customer base has grown because the restaurants continue to participate," she said. "We have them located in the Commons, in the downtown. They're located well around Geneva."

"Supporting your local community keeps the dollars in the community and helps the community to grow," she said.

A list of participating restaurants is at genevachamber.com/restaurant_week_in-geneva.php
