Yorkville has started circulating petitions to nominate candidates

Interested candidates can begin circulating nominations to petition for an elected seat with the City of Yorkville, according to officials.

Signatures can be collected beginning Sept. 20 for the April 2017 consolidated election.

Positions up for re-election include one alderman for each of the city’s four wards and city treasurer, if the job isn’t removed through the November referendum process, officials said. Among the members of the City Council in which the upcoming election season could affect is Alds. Ken Koch, Larry Kot, Joel Frieders and Diane Teeling.

Petitions should be filed no later than the week of Dec. 12-19.
