The Bolingbrook Village Board of Trustees at their recent meeting advanced the village’s plans to become home to the headquarters for WeatherTech, a vehicle accessories dealer.
A 12.52-acre site, located at 417-429 Remington Blvd., has four lots zoned for B-2 community retail and the remainder for I-1 limited industrial use. It is eyed for the construction of a four building campus and a helipad.
The applicant wants the four lots rezoned, from B-2 community retail to I-1 limited industrial use.
Trustee Robert Jaskiewicz questioned how the headquarters could impact traffic off Remington Road and Interstate 55.
Mayor Roger Claar responded, saying a little increase may occur in volume.
A proposal for the headquarters includes measures to address concerns for traffic and aesthetics.
Jaskiewicz noted that residents had voiced concerns for fumes and noise over a separate development and wanted to know how those at the nearby nursing home may feel about the WeatherTech headquarters.
“They knew about it from the get-go,” Claar said. “This is not a warehouse, per say
Claar said those at the nursing home did not raise concerns at the Bolingbrook Plan Commission meeting.
The Bolingbrook Plan Commission reviewed this matter at its meeting earlier this month; it passed.
WeatherTech currently occupies 14 buildings in the Village.
Claar said having WeatherTech in town has been a pleasure.
“[They’ve] never asked for or received a dime of incentives,” he said. “There were no tax breaks or anything like that.”
In a 6-0 vote, officials at the Bolingbrook Village Board of Trustees meeting approved a series of measures to advance the applicant’s plan to bring the WeatherTech headquarters to town.
Agreement with Will County Electric Aggregation Group extended
The Bolingbrook Village Board of Trustees agreed to extend its participation in the Will County Electric Aggregation Group for attaining bids for sources of electric supply at wholesale.
Board action pools together residents of 17 Will County communities seeking a volume rate discount.
“The savings at first were tremendous,” said Lucas Rickelman, director of public services and development for the village of Bolingbrook. “I think we’ve saved over $25 million since we started the project countywide. It’s not as much [of a savings] now. Wholesalers have gotten a little better with their pricing and locking it in.”
The agreement stipulates that its duration is up to three years.

Officials approved a set of measures appropriating $70,000 in motor fuel tax funds and $59,424.74 in bond funds to count toward an added cost of $129,424.74 for the I-55/Weber interchange improvements.
A motion was passed approving a proposal to buy a new audio system for the Bolingbrook Community Center. The village will pay $35,961 to satisfy this aim.
Board action granted a special use permit for a planned unit development, final development plan, plat of vacation and final plat of subdivision for the new site home to Fairfield Inn & Suites, at 165 Fernwood Dr.
The board authorized an amendment to a special use permit for a planned development with variances, final development plan and final plat of resubdivision for a multi-tenant development, at 740 and 750 Janes Ave. The site features space for Chipotle Mexican Grill, Mod Pizza and future retail.
